About us
The Crown was tenanted successfully for fifteen years by two landlords, one being a local farmer. In that time The Crown Inn was one of only two inns which continued to exist in the village. The Crown then changed hands very quickly; three times in three years. Pub life not being as easy as people first imagine, the pub deteriorated structurally and the trade became virtually non existent.There was a real worry about it's future.
Sheila & Phil Watkins were both born and raised in the local area, in fact Phil has lived all his life, only half a mile away from the pub. Married for over 25 yrs they have three children, Danny, Joe & Megan who help serve behind the bar and in the restaurant. The Crown Inn is a truly local village pub and a meeting place for the people of Longtown and the surrounding area, as well as the many tourists passing through this beautiful part of the Golden Valley.
As a family, we hold the Crown very close to our hearts and, being part of the community, decided to purchase it and once more make The Crown the centre of village life.
We have now been at the pub for 2 years and with the amazing support of everyone, The Crown is once more the central meeting place
for the local populace. We pride ourselves on being able to cater for everyone's needs.
